Code of Conduct

The following Code of Conduct outlines the basic, common-sense rules that must be adhered to from the moment you arrive in your country of expedition through your flight home.

If at any point during this time you do not honor these guidelines, you will be expelled from the team at your own expense.

We also reserve the right, as outlined in our application, to remove you from the team for any reason or any misbehavior not mentioned below, at any point before or during the expedition.

Common sense and the Holy Spirit should guide your behavior at all times.

Rules & Expectations

1. Prohibited Substances & Weapons

  • The possession or use of alcoholic beverages, narcotics, tobacco, tobacco products, firearms, and/or other weapons is strictly prohibited.

 

2. Prescription Drug Use

  • Misuse of any prescription drug or legal substance is prohibited.
  • Any prescription drugs must have been disclosed on your application.
  • If not previously disclosed, please contact our office immediately.

 

3. Relationships & Conduct

You may not engage in fraternizing of any kind (other than with your spouse), including but not limited to:

  • Physical contact showing affection or sexual behavior
  • Pairing off alone (male and female) in any situation
  • Verbally expressing romantic feelings

Note:
We understand you are adults and are not opposed to marriage or relationships. However, for the sake of the expedition, these boundaries must be maintained. If you develop feelings during the trip, please wait until after returning home to express them.

 

4. Language & Behavior

  • Vulgar or obscene language is not permitted
  • Off-color jokes or inappropriate humor are not tolerated
  • Complaining, insulting, degrading language, and cursing are prohibited

 

5. Respect for Property

  • Destruction, theft, or disrespect of property is strictly prohibited

 

6. Team Movement & Safety

  • No one may go off alone unless given permission by staff
  • Team members must stay in groups of at least three
  • Female team members must be accompanied by at least one male

 

7. Dress Code

  • Modest clothing must be worn at all times
  • If unsure, do not bring it
  • Leaders may require adjustments for cultural sensitivity

This may include removing:

  • Nose rings
  • Toe rings
  • Ankle bracelets
  • Other jewelry

 

8. Accountability During Free Time

  • Your whereabouts must be known by your team leader at all times

 

9. Transportation & Lodging Restrictions

  • Renting vehicles (cars, motorcycles, boats) or hotel rooms is not allowed without direct permission from staff

 

10. Emergency Situations

  • Staff will take full control during emergencies
  • Team members may assist based on their skill level
  • Only act independently if no staff member is available

 

11. Authority & Leadership

  • Staff must be respected and obeyed at all times
  • Concerns or complaints should be addressed after the expedition

 

12. Work Ethic & Attitude

  • Treat others with respect
  • Do your share of the work
  • Be prepared to work hard and get dirty

 

13. Participation & Discipline

  • Attend all daily activities
  • Be on time for meetings
  • Stay committed to daily devotions

 

Final Guideline

Do not engage in anything illegal or non-biblical.
Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
